True to nature jewelry
tree trunk arts, a Detroit-based handmade jewelry line, hand casts natural elements in solid silver and bronze, through the wonder of nature and the artist’s spin on the lost wax casting process, each piece is unique.
tree trunk arts transforms actual twigs, seeds, and succulents so they live on through the process of casting. The twig or element is placed in a can that is filled with plaster, creating a mold. The mold then goes into a kiln for 8+ hours burning out the plant and leaving the shape of it in the plaster. Liquid metal is poured into a plaster mold where it takes the shape of the plant that was burned out. Once cooled the plaster mold is destroyed to release the cast twig or other plant piece. Casting process is all about transformation, allowing the ephemeral to become perennial.
